Changeable Weather and Planting Plans

Hi folks, hope you are all keeping well! March is being fairly typical with a mix of very encouraging spring-like days and some colder spells - the garden is coming to life with Tete-a-Tete daffs and Helibore, snowdrops are still with us and forget-me-nots are beginning to show their buds. Frost is still a reality to deal with but with a keen eye on the weather forecast, any disasters can be avoided.

Here at Herbie's HQ we have garlic ready to go into the ground, potatoes are chitting on the window sill and the strawberry plants all survived the winter in their pots, I have moved them onto some outdoor shelving to hopefully keep slugs at bay amongst other things and am looking forward to plenty of fruit again this year.

Last weekend I indoor-planted some seeds, Cayenne chillis, Cherry tomatoes, Dahlias and Echinacea so the kitchen window is full of trays. I have a mix of sunflowers and some wildflower 'bee-friendly' seeds to direct sow next month along with some Calendula so finger's crossed for a colourful and useful garden to come!

Stay safe and take care.
